Harvard Professor Dimitrios Trichopoulous says Greeks are healthier than
North Americans. His five year study of 22,000 Greeks was recently
published in the New England Journal of medicine.
The study shows Greeks are inordinately healthy.
The Greek diet, also known as the Mediterranean diet, is nutrient
dense, and when we are well nourished, we have fewer cravings. Eating
according to the Greek diet will
keep you lean and healthy.
In a Mediterranean diet, about 38% of calories come from fat, says
Artemis Simopoulos, M.D., author of the Omega Diet. But most of this
fat is the monosaturated variety found in olive oil, fish, and nuts.
"By contrast, two times more fat in the American diet is saturated and
comes from meat, cheese, and hydrogenated oils," she says. John Hopkins
University researchers recently proved saturated fat promotes the
storage of body fat. Meanwhile, monosaturated fat has been found to be
more "flammable", burning off more easily than any other type of fat.
People who need to lose weight can lose around 5 pounds a week following
the Greek diet. Eating according to this diet will result in the
weight loss being 15 times faster than those who went low fat.
I have always believed in the healthy Greek food. Lots of fruit, nuts,
feta cheese, olives, Greek yogurt with honey and fruit, spinach pie, and
only use olive oil for cooking. This is how I remain slim
even after having 3 children.
Everyone is aware of the tremendous contributions of the Greeks to human
civilization. Now their dietary habits are being studied and by
following the Greek diet
people will enjoy improved health. The Greeks are one of the healthiest
and longest-living folks.
I shared this health-related information in order to acknowledge how
much good comes from
the Greeks.
Best regards,
Cara

will make all Greek products more expensive because Americans with 25,000
US$ per capita will increase the sale and the prices. This will make the
diet very expensive for the Greeks ( 15,000 US$ per capita) !! Sad.
I am not sure that I am not serious !!
